Nigerian Scam

My mother-in-law's e-mail was recently hacked into.  The scammer sent an e-mail to everyone on her contact list, trying to get them to sent him (I'm assuming it's a he) money.  I knew it was a scam but decided to scam the scammer.  Below is the back and forth I had with Mr. elikru@hotmail.com.   His IP address is 41.184.27.108.  Some things to notice:  my mother-in-law has perfect grammar, Mr. Eli Kru has horrible grammar, spelling, punctuation and it only gets worse as we get further on in the conversation.  Also, look at how he puts the amount of money he needs.  Then of course he swears near the end (it has been censored).  I have added my own comments (not part of the original e-mails) in red.

I have sent the money.  I used an international Money Order with the Post Office.  It works the same way as Western Union.  What you need to do is go to the branch at 905 Allerton Road, Allerton, Liverpool, Merseyside, L18 2DE (does that make sense? I don't know why they have so many names.  Liver pool must be the city, but I don't know what the other ones mean).  Anyways, go to that branch.  When you are there, give them your name and passport and they will give you the money.  I sent $3,000 (a little more just in case).  The confirmation number is 41D 4783JJ-OU812-5150 (speak OU812, OU812 & 5150 are Van Halen albums).  Let me know ASAP when you get the money.

P.S. Why is the plane ticket almost $2,000?  I found one online at Delta from London to Des Moines for $1,450.  Maybe you should check that one out.

Jody,

The hotel manger? No, the money has already been wired through the post office.  Go to the branch at 905 Allerton Road, Allerton, Liverpool, Merseyside, L18 2DE (this is a fake address by the way.  At this time I thought he was actually in London and was hoping to get him to go there) (I had it sent there specially).  The confirmation number is 41D 4783JJ-OU812-5150.  Just give them your name and the number.  The amount is $3,000.

Let me know if you are still having problems.

Ryan

Jody,

I don't think you understand.  I already sent the money.  I can't send it via Western Union because then I'd be out the money I sent via the post office.  Take a taxi (give them the address, they should be able to get you there) and tell them that you'll be able to pay the fare as soon as you are able to collect what I sent.  Go into the Post Office branch (I gave you the address), tell them who you are and that you are to collect a money order.  It should be simple as that.
